Amazon Go lets you forgo the checkout line

SHARE

Amazon Go is changing how convenience stores work – by making them more convenient. It has no checkout lines. You simply walk in, grab what you need, and walk out.

You won’t have to whip out your wallet to shop there either. All you need is the store’s smartphone app.

So yeah, it’s something new to do during lazy Sunday afternoons.

This means you can buy prepared foods, meal kits, alcohol, or some groceries without having to pay at a cashier. You don’t even have to use shopping carts or baskets. Just stuff the items into the shopping bag you’ll walk out with.

How Amazon Go works

There’s one little hitch: there’s only one Amazon Go branch so far (in Seattle, WA). There will most likely be more, but you’ll have to wait a bit longer.

The Amazon Go physical store has been in some sort of beta test since December 2016 with Amazon’s employees. As of January 22, 2018, the public can now shop there.
