The deep dish pizza is quite possibly the best type of pizza. If you haven’t tried one, imagine a pizza with a high edge and deep surface, containing copious amounts of cheese and tomato sauce.

Deep dish pizza ingredients

Dough

  • 3 and 1/4 cups of flour
  • 1 and 1/4 cup of warm water
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 2 and 1/4 teaspoon of active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup of cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Pizza sauce

  • 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 2 cloves of chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • A 28-ounce can of crushed tomatoes with basil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

Everything else

  • 10 slices of mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 pound of Italian sausage
  • Grated fresh Parmesan
