In a shallow bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt until they’re well combined. Optional: you can add the cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract as well.
Dip each slice of bread in the egg/milk mixture, allowing it to soak for about 15 seconds on each side. Make sure you turn the bread over to soak it on both sides.
Lightly butter a griddle or skillet and heat it over medium-high heat.
When the butter starts to foam, place the soaked bread on the griddle/skillet and cook them until both sides are golden brown. This should roughly take 2-3 minutes for each side.
Serve the French toast while it’s hot. If desired, throw in some cinnamon, chocolate chips, berries, or go classic with maple syrup.
