Simone Giertz, the “queen of shitty robots” and shoddy robot arm specialist, has done it again. If you haven’t heard of her, you’re missing out a lot. In a nutshell, Simone makes robots to automate everyday tasks, but her creations are impractical and totally silly.
Here are a few brilliant examples:
- She once made a robot that served her soup.
- Another time, there’s a robot arm that applied her lipstick.
- There’s also another machine creation that woke her up in the morning.
Today, Simone is making about 1,890 holiday cards using a $100,000 Kuka robot arm. Does she succeed? Of course not. Is the failure spectacular? See for yourself.
After doing a bit of digging, we’ve learned that Kuka robot arms are designed for building cars and stacking pallets, not penmanship. So yeah, expect unintelligible holiday cards.
Granted, making holiday cards at this point is a bit late, but the hilarity that Simone Giertz creates with her shitty robots is eternal.
