The Must-Play Games This Week – Star Wars Battlefront II, Pokémon and Lego

Unless a publisher moves the release date for a major game to later this year, this should be our last Must-Play Games installment for 2017. The games coming out this week, however, certainly aren’t the least deserving of your attention.

Here’s why.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

If you loved the original Lego Marvel Super Heroes, then the sequel should be an automatic purchase. As its name suggests, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 is a Lego-themed superhero game set in the Marvel universe. It lets you:

  • Roam Chronopolis, a huge open world that mashes together 18 Marvel locations. This includes Asgard, ancient Egypt, the underwater continent of Lemuria, and much more.
  • Play as iconic heroes and villains. The base game has over 100 characters including Captain Marvel, Stan Lee, Dr. Strange, Heimdall, and several incarnations of Spider-Man.
  • Save the universe from Kang the Conqueror by moving time forward or backward to change the state of in-game elements.
  • Play cooperative and competitive multiplayer with friends, in a range of themed challenges and battle arenas.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 is out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon

Who hasn’t heard of Pokémon? It’s a massive franchise that encompasses a trading card game, manga, anime shows, and video games. The latest is Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for the 3DS, which are enhanced versions of 2016’s Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Here are some of the highlights to watch out for in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon:

  • The Battle Agency feature lets you rent three different Pokémon and fight foes from other corners of the globe.
  • You can collect Totem Stickers, which reward you with huge, totem-like Pokémon that you can add to your team.
  • The in-game Rotom Pokédex lets you scan QR codes that yield rare Pokémon like Charmander, Grovyle, and Greninja.
  • The Alola Photo Club lets you dress up your Pokémon and take perfect photos with them. You can also change backgrounds, camera angles, and various other features.

Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are out today for the Nintendo 3DS.
