The movie stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Cate Blanchett (Hela), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk/Bruce Banner).
In the film, Thor needs to:
- Beat the Hulk (his “friend from work”) in a gladiatorial duel
- Escape the planet Sakaar without his hammer Mjolnir
- Save Asgard from Hela, the goddess of death
- Prevent the coming of Ragnarok, which marks the end of all Asgardian civilization.
All in a day’s work for the god of thunder.
Admittedly, the film – and other Thor installments – mainly serve as placeholders for the MCU’s major events. Nonetheless, they’re fun movies to watch. And based on Ragnarok’s reviews, it’s said to be the best among Thor’s standalone films.
Thor: Ragnarok is coming to North American theaters on November 3rd.
