During your leisure time this week, there are two things you need to watch out for:
- The showing of Blade Runner 2049, and
- The Bathurst 1000 Supercar race.
Here’s why these two are HOT:
Blade Runner 2049
The original Blade Runner starred Harrison Ford and first came out in 1982. It wasn’t initially a huge success but the film eventually gained a cult following and has influenced countless sci-fi movies, TV programs, anime, and video games.
Blade Runner essentially brought the cyberpunk vision to the big screen.
In Blade Runner 2049, Ryan Gosling plays LAPD Officer K, a titular blade runner. It’s a fancy name for police officers charged with killing or “retiring” replicants, which are bioengineered/bio-robotic androids.
Of course, critical acclaim doesn’t guarantee enjoyment, especially since Blade Runner 2049 is more arthouse film than popcorn flick. Nonetheless, having good reviews means there’s promise here, at least.
