If you enjoy Australian rules football (or footy), then mark your calendars: the AFL Grand Final is happening today, 30 Sept 2017. It’s going to be the 121st grand final in the Australian Football League.
This year’s AFL Grand Final is between the Adelaide Crows and the Richmond Tigers.
Path to the AFL Grand Final
Adelaide’s win the 2017 minor premiership is only the second time in the team’s history. It’s awarded to teams finishing on top of the AFL ladder after the home-and-away season.
The Crows finished with 15 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw. They recorded two straight-up dominant wins in the finals series:
- They gave Greater Western Sydney a 36-point drubbing in the qualifying final, and
- Convincingly defeated Geelong by 61 points to win the preliminary final.
The Tigers, on the other hand, went through a more challenging road:
- They fought a higher ranked Geelong team, which they still defeated by 51 points.
- Richmond defeated Greater Western Sydney by 36 points in the preliminary final.
